Strappy Shoulder Tank

Stylish and light, this tank top is a summer wardrobe essential. The loose, boxy fit makes it a versatile top that can easily be thrown over a swimsuit or worn by itself, and the strappy shoulder detail will make you stand out from the crowd!

Materials:

Light (#3) or medium (#4) yarn: approx. 290/330/370/410 yd

I'm a big believer in the versatility of yarn; as long as you can achieve or adjust the gauge and the quality, drape, etc. of the fabric is to your liking, feel free to substitute with any yarn you like! In this case, a 100% cotton yarn to keep you nice and cool during the summer would be ideal.

Size M-L only:

R17: Ch 2, turn, 1 dc inc, 21 dc, 1 dc inc (25)

Do not fasten off; proceed to Joining Row.

Joining Row:

Ch 2, turn, 2 dc inc, 18/22 dc, 1 dc inc in last st of Right Triangle (24/28)

Place Left Triangle (with right side facing up) to left of Right Triangle. Both starting yarn tails should be on the left.

1 dc inc in 1st st of Left Triangle, 18/22 dc, 2 dc inc (24/28)

Your two triangles are now connected, and the total number of sts should be 48/56.

Body:

R1: Ch 2, turn, 2 dc inc, 44/52 dc, 2 dc inc (52/60)

R2-16/17: Ch 2, turn, 52/60 dc (52/60)

Add/remove rows as desired to make your top longer/shorter. Keep in mind that the ribbing will add 1” to the length.

Ribbing:

R1: Ch 1, turn, 52/60 sc (52/60)

R2: Ch 2, turn, *2 fpdc, 2 bpdc*, repeat from * to * until last 2 sts, 1 bpdc, 1 dc in last st (52/60)

R3: Ch 2, turn, 1 dc & 1 fpdc in first st, *2 bpdc, 2 fpdc*, repeat from * to * until end, 1 dc in 2nd ch from beginning of R2 (53/61)

Extra dcs at beginning & end of R3 help the edges of the top stay straight and neat.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the sides together.

Repeat all steps to create a 2nd panel.

Assembly & Finishing:

Lay the 2 panels directly on top of each other with the wrong side facing out. Whip stitch the tops of the straps together, and whip stitch the sides of the top together.

Flip your top inside-out so that the right side is now facing out. Insert your hook along the armhole, secure yarn, and pull up a loop. Ch 1, sc evenly along the edge of the armhole, making sure your stitches aren’t too tight, 1 sl st in first sc to join. Fasten off. Repeat for the 2nd armhole.

Still with the right side facing out, insert your hook along the V-neck, secure yarn, and pull up a loop. Ch 1, sc evenly along the edge of the V-neck, making sure your stitches aren’t too tight, 1 sl st in first sc to join. Fasten off.

Weave in all ends, and you're done!
