These two patterns hold a very special place in my heart. I created them to represent Dulce, our beloved fur baby whom we unfortunately lost to lymphoma. Embroidering Dulce onto my clothing was a way for me to honor her memory and carry a piece of her with me wherever I go. Of course, Malteses are also absolutely adorable. One pattern is slightly smaller than the other, so feel free to play around with whichever fits your needs best!
You can embroider the mouth however you wish (e.g.: a pink cross stitch for the tongue, black half stitches, etc). I chose to embroider a tongue for one and a smile for the other.
Since both of my canvases were black, I just used white DMC thread to embroider Dulce, but if you're using a white canvas, you likely want to use black back stitches. I've included both versions below for you to choose!
Pattern 1 (Smaller)
DMC Embroidery Floss:
3865 (Winter White)
310 (Black)
3806 (Light Cyclamen Pink)*
3846 (Light Bright Turquoise)
*Can be substituted with a more muted shade of pink if you prefer
Stitches:
Full cross stitch
Back stitch (white canvas only)
Pattern 2 (Larger)
DMC Embroidery Floss:
3865 (Winter White)
310 (Black)
3716 (Very Light Rose)*
3846 (Light Bright Turquoise)
*Can be substituted with a more vibrant shade of pink if you prefer
Stitches:
Full cross stitch
Half stitch
Back stitch (white canvas only)
